The Educational Journal of Works Aimed at the XXI century (XXI CHALLENGES) https://revistas.utp.ac.pa/index.php/retoxxi
The Educational Journal of Works Aimed at the XXI century (XXI CHALLENGES) is intended to be the national scientific journal in the Panamanian educational field, although it has a strong affluence and influence in foreign contexts, being its editorial and scientific configuration a true reflection. Its institutional patronage is guaranteed by the UTP (Technological University of Panama) and the IPHE (Panamanian Institute for the Disabled) as well as by its scientific coverage of Research Groups GICD (Research in Educative Communication, Spain). Due to this, its structure and patronage takes into account the university and the investigative inclusion as a compilation of knowledge and the institutional and real inclusion of the educational praxis, as its own origin and destination.
Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá es-ES The Educational Journal of Works Aimed at the XXI century (XXI CHALLENGES) 2524-1125 Uso de la gamificación en el contexto de la salud panameña https://revistas.utp.ac.pa/index.php/retoxxi/article/view/2844
Diabetes is a silent disease; it is the fifth leading cause of death in Panama. Using software technologies applied to areas such as health is increasing every day. The development of new technologies that involve smartphones and sensors is making self-care of health possible, and with the use of gamification strategies, patients can have a greater interest in their self-care. Therefore, this research aims to propose a mobile application for diabetes self-care that contains gamification strategies
It's not just words. Words refer to concepts. Then they are linked to thought. And they determine the action. Words are not always neutral. Often they carry an ideological burden, a meaning and even an intention. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze not only thought and action, but also its mention, through the terminology used. The advance, the change, the progress are marked by the thought that materializes in the action, but everything is mediated by the nomenclature. Therefore, a terminological and conceptual elucidation is presented in the educational field, when there is a conflict that requires a solution. That is, when there is a dysfunction in the teaching-learning process, which must be formulated as a special educational need, as a prelude to their educational response
Antonio Rodríguez Fuentes ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2020-07-07 2020-07-07 4 1 10.33412/retosxxi.v4.1.2783 PARADIGMATIC CHANGE AS A PLATFORM FOR TECHNOLOGICAL OPPORTUNITIES IN HIGHER EDUCATION: A REAL CASE FROM THE USE OF A BUSINESS MANAGEMENT SIMULATOR AS A TEACHING TECHNIQUE AT THE COUNTRY LEVEL https://revistas.utp.ac.pa/index.php/retoxxi/article/view/2785
The results of a work made from the initiative of incorporating a business management simulator as a bachelor’s degree learning technique is presented, whose experience is studied to determine if during the simulation performed during the first quarter of the year 2019, the students experimented limitations related to the equipment usage and technological resources, since it exists in the imaginary of the officials of the Universidad Estatal a Distancia (UNED) from Costa Rica, the paradigm that the students of this higher education center, have difficulties to count on the equipment and the access to the technological resources, which is one of the main concerns when the incorporation of such learning technique was planned all over the country. In reason of the previous, once finished the business management simulation experience, the participant population was interviewed, to determine the existence or not of the problematic linked to the limitation of the equipment access and technological resources, finding contrary results to the paradigm that was present in the imaginary from the university officials.
Álvaro García Otárola María Gabriela Romero Valverde Marieta Elizondo Soto ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2020-07-07 2020-07-07 4 1 10.33412/retosxxi.v4.1.2785 WEB PLATFORMS AND ONLINE RESOURCES FOCUSED ON COMMUNICATIVE-LINGUISTIC SKILLS FOR FAMILIES OF PEOPLE WITH AUTISM https://revistas.utp.ac.pa/index.php/retoxxi/article/view/2787
The diversity of resources that can be accessed quickly and easily online opens a world of possibilities for help and support to families of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In turn, Information and Communication Technologies are presented as a set of motivating tools for people with this condition and easy to integrate into therapy and day-to-day activities. This work aims to offer families, web platforms rich in resources focused on the development of communication and language, these being one of the main limitations of people with ASD. Families are the main axis in the full development of the child, so that an active collaboration from an early age will favor the child's progress and with it, their quality of life. In this sense, the stimulation of communication skills from birth will be crucial for their development and social interaction. In this way, ten web platforms are offered whose main objective is to offer ideas, resources, materials, and experiences as a result of daily work with people with ASD, mainly aimed at promoting communicative and linguistic skills.
Carmen del Pilar Gallardo Montes María Jesús Caucel Cara Davide Capperucci ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2020-07-07 2020-07-07 4 1 10.33412/retosxxi.v4.1.2787 OGEO: INDOOR NAVIGATION SYSTEM FOR ORIENTATION AND MOBILITY OF THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED PEOPLE https://revistas.utp.ac.pa/index.php/retoxxi/article/view/2788
Moving freely means, for visually impaired people, acquiring spatial orientation and mobility techniques that allow them to achieve their autonomy and independence. Orientation allows them to recognize their position according to the environment, while mobility allows them to move safely and efficiently from one place to another. However, navigating around an unknown place is a challenge for visually impaired people (ViP). In this research and development work, OGeo is created, an orientation and navigation system for interiors of buildings that uses markers (iBeacon devices) and mobile phones based on Android. This system allows a ViP to move inside a building independently. The system is based on voice instructions, which will guide a ViP from point A to point B, using precise instructions, step by step. The fundamental objective, from a social point of view, is to provide support for the social inclusion of ViP, where it is evident that it will provide greater school inclusiveness.
Manuel Gomez Víctor Rodríguez Rafael Vejarano Hector Montes ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2020-07-07 2020-07-07 4 1 10.33412/retosxxi.v4.1.2788
