Abstract
Parkinson's Disease (PD), a prevalent neurodegenerative disorder, significantly impacts the quality of life of those affected. This study presents a comprehensive review of PD monitoring systems, highlighting the need for more effective and accessible solutions. The main objective is to provide a solid foundation for developing improvements in PD monitoring and thus enhancing the quality of life for patients. The review, conducted systematically, explored scientific databases with specific criteria, focusing on control environments, inertial sensors, and artificial intelligence. The results emphasize the importance of considering clinical and everyday environments for comprehensive monitoring, as well as the crucial role of inertial sensors and artificial intelligence in improving the accuracy and predictive capacity of systems. Various strengths and weaknesses were identified in existing monitoring systems, underscoring the need for more effective solutions. Understanding current trends and gaps in research directly informs the objectives and methodological approaches of the study, thus contributing to advancing more efficient solutions in PD monitoring and improving the quality of life for those affected.
