Abstract

Ethics is defined as the principles of conduct that guide an individual or group, both in their personal and professional lives. The objective of the research is to evaluate the perception of students about the importance of applying professional ethics in their future work performance. Professional ethics plays a fundamental role by establishing behavior guidelines for workers and providing guidance on what is right and wrong within the professional field. The study has been carried out with a specific sample of 36 students studying in the 4th and 5th year of the bachelor’s degree in Logistics Engineering and Supply Chain Management from Technology University of Panama. The data was collected through a survey. The results of the survey indicate that 94% of the sample students consider that learning ethics in the academic formation for the logistics engineering students is "important", followed by 3% who consider "more or less” and the remaining 3% consider that its “not important”. The limitations of this research are the limited sample size, the survey tool was applied only virtually, and the lack of previous studies. Additionally, this investigation showed that the students recognize the relevance of ethics in their professional life and consider that its learning and application is essential for their development as ethical professionals in the field of logistics and supply chain.
