Abstract

Humberto Avelino Fernández Morán Villalobos (1924-1999) was a Doctor of Medicine, scientist, biophysical researcher and teacher. He was born in Venezuela, Maracaibo, Zulia State, on February 18, 1924. This year, 2024, marks the first 100 years since his birth. He is the son of Luis Fernández Morán and Elena Villalobos. He shares his academic training and personal life between his homeland Venezuela, the US 

and Europe. He died in Stockholm, Sweden, on March 17, 1999, as a result of a brain neurism. [1] [3] He is an extraordinary Venezuelan, a great scientist, inventor of the scalpel or diamond blade, an instrument for ultra microtomy, ultra-fine cutting of biological and metallic

materials that allowed the observation of subcellular structures, an invention that has significantly impacted medical fields. and world scientists, for application in ophthalmic surgery and high precision, even with samples of lunar rocks. He is a professor and researcher at the Central University of Venezuela and at Universities in the United States and Sweden. Researcher at NASA for the APOLLO project in the analysis of lunar rocks.
